Intrapersonal communication is the type of communication in which only involves yourself. This type of communication with yourself can involve many different things during your everyday life. Intrapersonal communication can involve decision making on your diet, making any type of hard decision, deciding where you want to go out to eat, what to do with friends or even just simply talking yourself through a hard situation and giving yourself some advice. Intrapersonal communication is very important for yourself because you are the only “person” you are with 100% of the time. It is healthy to be able to help yourself when no one else can and that comes with having personal communication. Intrapersonal communication is definitely something I do, which most people probably do, on the daily basis. I do it while deciding on what to do with my day, what my next task will be while I am working at my job, doing homework and just giving myself advice throughout the day when I may not have someone to talk to. Out of all of these intrapersonal communications I go through throughout my day the ones I do most are definitely communicating with myself on what task should come next at work and just what I should do with my day. I work at a bakery so there are always many tasks to do and we have to make sure to get them done before we close. While I am at work I always tell myself the process of what to do during the task that I am doing so I do not mess up and then when I am done with that, I repeat the process for the next task I have to do; so, I am constantly talking to myself at work. With deciding on what to do with my day, every day I am constantly going through my day in my head of everything I have to do and when I am going to do it so I stay organized and so I do not get overwhelmed.
Interpersonal communication: Interpersonal communication is communication between someone you are usually closer with or someone you see on a normal basis and then obviously yourself. In a roundabout way the book says that interpersonal communication is usually with a person that can have an easy influence of your life as well as you having one on them. For this type of communication, I would say I definitely have the most influential interpersonal communication with my sister. My sister and I have always been close growing up and she is older than me so I always looked up to her. Since we were always close we always influenced each other to try new things and shared each other’s styles in clothes. When we were little I was scared to learn how to ride a bike without my training wheels but my sister told me once I got the hang of it, it was not hard at all and she showed me exactly how to do it. All of our teen years I always got her to listen to my types of music and she always loved it. Whenever my sister and I did fight we would always explain our sides so we understood each other and then we would move on like nothing ever happened. Interpersonal communication is definitely a big one between mu sister and I.
Group Communication: Group communication included three or more people and normally when I think of group communication I think of working in groups in high school, but there are other types of group communication too. When I hear group communication I also think of just your normal group of friends that you hang out with on the weekends or sometimes the weekdays when there is free time; or the people you have to work with. A group of friends have communication so much because your close group of friends is probably the people you talk to most behind your family. Also, the people you work with you have to constantly communicate with to make sure the tasks are getting done. When I am working at the bakery I am constantly tell the 5 other people I am working with what I am doing so that they could do something else and we can get done faster. With my group of friends every weekend we communicate about what to do and where to go. Also, with my group of friends we always talk to each other whenever one of us needs someone to talk and we are there for them or they are there for me. On the daily, weather I am at work or talking to my group of friends, I am receiving group communication.
Public Communication: Right away when I hear public communication I think of myself presenting a project or a speech to one of my classes. Public communication is when you are giving information to your classmates or audience. The first personal experience that comes to me for public communication is when I was in high school I had to memorize and present a poem to the class and explain what it meant. I was terrified I was going to mess up and embarrass myself but I did not and ended up getting a good grade.
Mass Communication: Right away when I hear mass communication I think of social media; the biggest thing in my generation. My own personal experience is using Instagram and posting. All of my followers see what I post and it is crazy to think that so many people can see the picture you’re posting just for fun. In the mix of Instagram, you can get in touch with anyone you want through Instagram direct messaging. When they say mass communication it really is true; you can message and talk to anyone you want.
